Left Handed Bass Guitars

Perhaps the most famous left handed bassist in music history, Paul McCartney originally played a Hofner violin bass because it was symmetrical and would not look strange when he restrung it for playing left handed and flipped it upside down during his time with the Beatles. The problems inherent in McCartney’s approach was that the nut was not cut properly to accommodate the different string thicknesses, the bridge did not intonate properly, and the pickups’ pole pieces were not aligned for optimum response for the different string setup.

Since then, left handed Bass Guitar models have been available in limited supply, but that has now changed. Spector, Fodera, Sadowsky, Kubicki, Alleva-Coppola and Warwick are all manufacturers who now offer left handed versions of most of their factory models for an extra charge.
